The dominance of the Storm Reign line continues with the Storm Reign of Fire bowling ball. You will simply have to throw this ball to believe the reaction.

Storm is fast taking over the bowling world, again. Storm was never really down, but it had it ups and downs like all bowling ball companies. Under the leadership of Bill Chrisman, along with his outstanding staff, Storm bowling has not only revived the company but have taken it to the next level, and all of this in a down economy. This could only be achieved by having a commitment to quality which leads to superior products. The bowling balls at Storm have accounted for more television appearences and wins on the PBA tour than any other brand by far.

The Storm Reign of Fire registers a 198.5 on the bowlingball.com Perfect Scale®.

Manufacturer description of the new Storm Reign of Fire:

The key to the Storm Reign of Fire is the utilization of the R2S™ solid reactive coverstock. From its inception, it has proven to be one of the most versatile coverstocks ever manufactured. With its strong surface profile and excellent friction characteristics it was the obvious choice for this latest release.

The fuel for the Fire so to speak is the C.A.M. ™ (Continuous Axis Migration) weight block. The combination of the unique contours along the weight block with the strategically placed weighted mass blocks deliver optimum mid-lane roll with volatile backend reaction.

The Storm Invasion 12 Hour Sale features the next generation of advancement in core and coverstock technology. Our first goal was to develop a strong asymmetrical design different than any other. The concept was to create contours along the RG planes to ensure a stronger preferred spin axis. We did this by developing intersecting contoured bands from the X-axis along the Y and Z axes. These bands are developed at specific arcs to maximize RG and differential values along the planes. In turn, this translates into a quicker revving core with a more defined moment of inertia or breakpoint unlike any prior design found on the market.

The all new Origin™ core boasts a 2.48 RG value with .057 total differential and a .017 intermediate differential. Using C.A.T.S., we tested the Origin™ core up against the Shape Lock™-HD core with same coverstock to see the differences, and we were amazed by the results. The Origin™ core started into the “hook” phase about 3 feet sooner and created a stronger entry angle to the pocket. Usually when we get the ball started into the “hook” phase sooner we see less entry angle to the pocket, but this core with the contoured bands along the RG planes definitely showed us something different.

The finishing touch to the Storm Invasion 12 Hour Sale is the R3X™ coverstock. This third generation of Reactor™ series coverstock has the highest Ra values ever produced by Storm products. Based on the USBC Ball Motion Study we know that higher Ra values produce more ball motion in the oil, and this coverstock is no exception. We saw a 9% increase in friction values in the oil and an increase of 5% down the lane over its predecessor R2X™ utilizing C.A.T.S. testing.

A new generation within the kingdom has materialized and looks to seek total domination. Enter the Rogue Cell.

What I Was Looking For In This Layout: I wanted to a ball reaction similar to my Virtual Gravity, so I was looking for another ball to hook… just not as much as my Virtual. With the Rogue Cell’s Cytoplasmic XL Hybrid coverstock, I decided to put one of my favorite layouts on it to try and achieve the reaction I wanted.

What I Ended Up With In This Ball Layout: If you’ve thrown a Cell, whether it’s a solid or pearl, you are going to want this addition in your bag. If you haven’t thrown a Cell… What are you doing?! This is a great addition to the line offering a different reaction that compliments the Cell and Cell Pearl. With the layout I put on my Rogue Cell, it now allows me to play a similar line to my Virtual Gravity, only it clears the heads a little easier with the Hybrid coverstock.

The Hybrid Reactive coverstock allows me to be versatile and play different areas of the lane when needed. If I’m playing on a medium condition or burnt lanes, I can stand left and throw right with little worry of having the ball recover back to the pocket due to the energy saved down the lane. When the lanes are fresh and a little tighter, I can square up and watch this ball make a left turn off the fresh backends.

My recommendation is that if you have not tried any ball in the Cell line, this would be a good time to start. If you do have a Cell, the Rogue Cell is the perfect compliment. The Hybrid reactive coverstock allows bowlers of all styles to play their favorite part of the lane. If you’re a cranker, you can tune the surface and swing the whole lane. If you’re a tweener, polish the surface and head outside. No matter what your favorite line to play is, the Rogue Cell’s combination of core and coverstock allow any bowler to easily fine tune the reaction for the perfect reaction desired.
