Brunswick continues to pave the way with new technology and innovative thinking. Focusing on the coverstock of the bowling ball, which is the dominant reason for ball reaction, Brunswick looks like they may have broken the code. Brunswick continues to be the leader in cover stock technology with the introduction of the second in the C System Series, the 3.5. This ball dominates and conquers heavy oil making other bowling balls look inferior when thrown side by side. The reaction that I see when the C System 3.5 is rolling down the lanes is new for the bowling industry. This ball will change your personal definition of ball reaction.

All new coverstock technology by Carmen Salvino, this bowling ball has a great look and a great roll going down the lane. You will see your scores go up as your pin carry goes up.

After a record-breaking qualifying run, Brunswick Pro Staffer, Johnny Petraglia, won the PBA Senior Sun Bowl Tour in The Villages, Fla.

Petraglia used a Wild Ride throughout the tournament to win the championship match and the seventh Senior title of his career.

PBA Hall of Famer Johnny Petraglia of Jackson, N.J., won the PBA Senior Sun Bowl in The Villages at Spanish Springs Lanes for his first Senior Tour title of the season defeating fellow lefty Hugh Miller 278-225, it was Petraglia’s seventh Senior Title.

Even though the PBA failed to recognize the past accomplishments of Johnny Petraglia in their article, it is newsworthy to note that Petraglia has won 14 regular PBA Titles, including the prestigious PBA National Championship in 1980, bringing his total PBA Titles to 21, a mark achieved by only a hand full of players. Congratulations Johnny.

Petraglia set four scoring records (6 and 12-game qualifying pin-fall and 36-game pin-fall with and without bonus pins). He had a 13-5 match play record which earned him the top qualifying position for the stepladder finals.

“It’s very gratifying to bowl this well throughout the whole tournament and bring home a win,” the 62-year-old Petraglia said. “It would have been very disappointing to be the top qualifier and lose it all in one match.

It was in last year’s PBA Senior U.S. Open that Petraglia lead the entire tournament only to be denied the title because of the antiquated step ladder finals still used by the PBA.

Could you possibly image Phil Mickelson leading a 72 hole golf tournament by 10 strokes only to lose it on one playoff hole. Certainly exciting and nerve racking, but not a measure of the best golfer on the course that week. Oh well, if bowling keeps doing what it has been doing for the last 30 years we keep getting the same results, wait, that’s the problem we are. That’s another story.

The new Brunswick Siege is the first in their new series of Pro Performance balls and features the new MACE asymmetrical core as well as the new solid Recoil coverstock.

Pin to PAP (4 1/2″ over 1/2″ up) – 5″
Mass Bias – 2″ right of Center Line

Surface Preparation – Left at Box Finish

What I Was Looking For In This Layout: We’ve been hearing that Brunswick was looking to create something that was very aggressive and this was that ball. I was looking for this ball to really move on the backends for me.

What I Ended Up With In This Ball Layout: I’d have to say that this layout gave me a great look on heavy oil. I tested this ball on a modified house shot with a higher volume of oil. The Brunswick Siege really starts gripping the lane early because I left the surface at box finish.

With the combination of the new M.A.C.E. core and Solid Recoil coverstock, this ball generates a ton of reaction and a very large flare around the ball. I would have to say that this ball flares nearly 7″ for me.

On the heavier oiled condition that I tested the Brunswick Siege on, I stood on the 30 board and stroked the ball out to around 8 at the breakpoint. With the box surface and strong midlane reaction, this ball had no problems at all getting back to the pocket and exploding the pins. I even left a few nine pins which isn’t a bad thing with the matte surface.

To see what this ball could do, I moved right on the approach to try and play a tighter line to the pocket. This line worked well too as the ball did not seem to have any difficulty clearing the heads.

As the lanes broke down, the surface at box finish proved to be too much for me. This is going to be a great addition to my bag for heavy oil. For lighter to medium oiled shots, all you would need to do is hit the coverstock with some Brunswick Factory Finish Polish and it would react great on the backends.

I think Brunswick did a great job in creating the Siege with the new M.A.C.E. core and wrapping it with the Solid Recoil coverstock. I recommend this ball to anyone in search of more hook in heavy oil.
